Read South by Alfred Lansing, then read In the Heart of the Sea by Philbrick.
you’ll get an excellent comparison showing how important leadership and trust in leadership really is.
I think that Shackleton wrote South and Alfred Lansing wrote Endurance, both are excellent.
That is a good one..."Thunder in the Mountains", about Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce War, is a great read too...so is "Blood and Thunder", about Kit Carson and the Navajo Wars....so much Western history that is little known these days. "Black Elk Speaks" should be required reading for every American schoolchild, in my opinion...Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne. Great book about the Comanche Tribe.
Reading that too, want to read his crockett bookI just started reading Labyrinth of Ice by Buddy Levy, it’s about the Greely Polar Expedition. Very well written, so far it’s really good!
Desert solitaire by edward abbey is greatI'm looking for suggestions for books ( Christmas gift) for my 3 adult kids. This time not looking for hunting based books ( although all 3 hunt) , what are some of your favorite backcountry adventure type books that were a good read.
Thanks
