Grew up shooting recurves, but it's been quite a while since I've done any regular practice. Pretty stoked about my acquisition from yesterday:
Osage orange/ebony longbow with ivory tips, leather grip...couple dozen sticks, armguard, glove, soft bow bag, and hard travel case....all for $150!
Just gotta get a target set up in the backyard.....

62# @28".......pretty stout to start with.

Maybe you can cut it in half......grin

Kidding of course. Take it easy with that....best advice is to start with about 1/2 that weight to develop good form and work up to that. Its not particularly heavy, but a 70# compound has you holding 14# at full draw....thats significantly more than you are used to.......don't overdo it.

You will notice that your grip matters with that bow....you will have to experiment as to what makes it feel/shoot best.

Love to hear your back in the game, I know what a long lay off can feel like. When I started back it was hell pulling a 60# back that I remember felt easy before the lay off. I'm shooting a 45# now, gonna work my way back up soon. Be good brother

Thanks for the input fellas! Yeah this baby has some horsepower alright :p .....gonna go dig the 45 and 55 pound recurves out of my dad's basement, along with the G. Fred Asbell and Fred Bear books, and work my way back up slowly....probably pick up a lighter set for the kids to shoot too....
