Anybody in here have any experience with the Copper Spur Expedition series tents. Specifically in comparison to the UL series? Debating between the two and the weights vs strength.

Gonna be used as a spike out tent in the Talkeetnas this upcoming August 12-19ish. Thanks for any input

I've had the Copper Spur UL3 since 2009 when they first came out. Its been on about a dozen Aug/Sept sheep hunts, and countless other trips through the summer/fall here in Alaska on trips from north to south. I've only been snowed on one time, and winds haven't been much over maybe 30mph at times. No issues for me.

I am thinking about upgrading to a newer version though, something a bit lighter. I find myself packing a small floorless tent more and more, but some early season hunts, the bugs can suck and a full tent is a must for me.

So, in short, you are saying go with the UL version not the Expedition version?
