I'm looking at getting a new backpacking tent. Looking to stay under 4lbs and be decent 3+season (heavy rain/winds, possible overnight snow up high). I have a hilleberg Akto I just can't stand anymore, it's too low inside I'm constantly bent over and brushing on the inner tent even sleeping my head and feet/bag are in constant contact with the low ceilings. The condensation is the killer no matter what I do or what the weather I always wake up to inside of the tent covered in condensation with all that contact my bag and my gear is covered in water.

My buddies us BA copper spur HV UL2 and have zero condensation issues, much better head room. They survived a pretty savage rain/wind storm with me up high in CO a few years ago, they were white knuckling the whole night thinking their rain fly was going to rip off, while I was in the akto dreaming of the big bull (the akto is bombproof I just can't ignore the drawbacks anymore).

So the question is is the BA bomb proof enough? It survived but the light weight materials put a little doubt in your mind.

Or is the Kuiu Mountain Star more bombproof? (I saw the stormstar too but that seems a bit too heavy)

Not to make this more harder lol but might look at the Nemo dagger as well (not dragonfly). I was torn between the same three choices. After putting my hands on the copper spur and Nemo side by side, the difference in material “strength” based on how it felt in my hand, made the decision. The BA felt like I would have to baby it to keep it from getting tore up.

I could never get my hands on the Kuiu and wasn’t able to catch it in stock when I was looking so it was ruled out for those reasons.

Currently I have the 2p and 3p daggers and have been very happy with both.

I have well over 100 nights in my older version BA Copper spur 2. Has been through everything from snow to heat. Finally 1 of the poles started to crack, and the elastic got stretched in the poles...spent $20 on a tent pole fix kit, and re-did the elastic and mended the pole, and all good again. I might upgrade to the newer version for the little bit of extra headroom etc. But IMO the Copper spur is one of the best tents out there
