been looking at the new version of the Copper spur UL2 and wanted to ask if anyone had one and what they thoughts of the new door setup?

looks interesting but not sure if its really the practical since i cant get my hands on one to take a look.

i know you can get last years model a bit cheaper and curious if its worth it

thanks

I am running the current Copper Spur UL2 tent. The 2 person is plenty big for one person and gear inside, but it would be tight for 2. Vestibules are kinda cool on the fly and you can pitch them in a variety of ways (poles, lines, etc). I will say that, typical with BA, the zippers snag on the fly like crazy unless you’re careful. The floor is thin, so tyvek or a ground cloth is probably needed to keep it in good shape. All in all, probably one of the more versatile, breathable, stable freestanding shelters in that price range.

I have the current version of the Copper Spur Hotel 2. I love the extra vestibule space. Of course, it adds extra weight though. If I’m really trying to save weight, I take my BA Fly Creek Platinum. Agree with CP6 that the Copper Spur is great space for 1. I wouldn’t use it for 2. Personally, I don’t think you need the footprint. I have had my Platinum for 7+ years and the floor is still fine, minus a couple of pin pricks. I do take an extra minute to clear the spot where I set it up. But, I’d rather do that, than carry the extra weight/bulk of a footprint. But, the floor material is pretty thin if you don’t take care of it. I wouldn’t hesitate to get either the current version or just save the money and get the previous version. Either way, I’m sure you will be happy with it.
