I’m going on another goat hunt in Sept and the last goat hunt I was on I used the Slik 624 and it worked for size and weight but I was not impressed with it using my swaro 65 ATM on it. I will not be using binos on it, will carry my 8x32 NL’s to find white spots, then deploy the spotter on the tripod.

Stability to sex goats from afar is my main concern. Especially on windy days up high, that was the issue with the Slik.

I’ve been searching around and have narrowed it down to trying either the Aziak Ridgeline or the Backcountry w/ the backcountry ball head.

Anyone have experience with both, or am I going to need to order both and just see for myself?

Not planning on shooting from it, but could
Using a 65mm swaro
No need for binos/all day glassing sessions

Ridgeline is a very solid tripod. I like it in stock form with the build-in ball head for use with then Swaro ATC. I believe it would work very well for you with the Swaro ATM on above treeline hunts. The Swaro ATM was my previous spotter for 14 years before I picked up the ATC a month ago.

Love aziaks front country tripod. And just got the backcountry tripod for this year. It seems very study for its size but haven’t had a chance to get it out in the hills yet. I’m personally not a huge fan of a ball head with spotting scopes. I ended up going with the Mutnt micro fluid head. It’s 11oz and for the price compared to other brands that had similar produces I bought one to try and it surprisingly handled very well. I’ve even used my 95 with it and it seems to hold tight even with the bigger scope on it.

I got the tripod about a month ago and really like it. So far it has just seen light use for shed hunting and scouting, I have used my 65 STX on it and 15xs with no problem.

Its top secret. Haha, they made a few the last couple of years to sell at the Hunt Expo. Not sure if they are going to continue production or adjust the design.
