AZ Turkey

Looking for some tips on units in AZ to Turkey hunt. I hunted 12A last year and only heard them. I also saw a few tracks around a watering hole. Is there better units ? Should I hunt around water ? Is opening weekend better than closing weekend ? Thank you.

For units, I suggest taking a closer look at the info from the G&F. As far as water goes, in my experience they don’t stray too far from water but YMMV with the recent local precipitation when and where you hunt. The best thing is to put them to roost and set up at an ambush point the next day

Thank you. I will check our their website and gather info. Turkey is somewhat new to me so thanks for the info. I got too a water source with fresh tracks but couldn’t get them in. Only hear them.

For the fall hunt your best bet is to either hunt water or road hunt. Although rare, I’ve been able to call at turkeys in October and they’ll actually chirp back. Good luck
