But you don't lose your points if you don't apply every year. Five consecutive I believe? So correct me if I'm wrong, but a guy could get two years for elk out of a license and apply for the deer point every other year, if he was good with building those deer points more slowly.
Correct the only thing you would miss out on is an extra "loyalty" point for applying 5 consecutive years

300 for an online class when states like mine allow you to take online hunter courses for free, or allow other states hunter safety certificates count. Its definitely about the money.
Im not aware of any other state that gives you a LIFETIME bonus point for taking an online course. I think $300 is a fair compromise considering prior you actually had to be in person, take the course, and pass to get the loyalty point. Which is what I had to do.... thank COVID.

Same ^^ As a non-res, I did the AZ hunter ed pre covid to get the pt, so that included time off, flight, hotel, rental car. >> $300. So, $300 isn't bad relative to the old alternative. It made sense when I was drawing frequently, but I'm now building points for one more hunt. The higher the point count to draw, which results in less draws over ones life, the hunter ed pt makes less economic sense to me. YMMV.

AZ does not accept other states hunter ed.
For purposes of the extra point only.
All states recognize each others hunters ed in regard to meeting the actual hunter ed requirement. Two of my kids actually have CA hunter ed because we were able to complete it online without having to attend an actual class.

People call it hunted Ed

But “AZ hunter Ed” and Az “hunting AZ ethically” are 2 different things.

Well at least they are prices differently
And they charge residents $150 for the same online course.

I tried to get into a class when working in as and there wasn’t anything for months

The best option is to take the $300 course. I went to Don martins annual January NR only class and it was about $1,000 total for the weekend with the wife. I drew that same year so there's that. Either one will get you the permanent point and you need it. I drew again last year and applied this year with 2 points.
