As a parent, I have so many questions
I don’t know the story. But as a parent of toddlers, I will say that it’s incredible how quickly they can escape.

We have a friend whose toddler discovered how to break out of the child lock on the front door and was found a few blocks down. They’re great parents, but all it takes is a few seconds sometimes.

When my wife and I got married, we lived in some very cheap 2 bed 1.5 bath apartments. There was a couple across from us that had 4 or 5 kids. They had kids go missing all the time. Cops spent 2-3 hours looking for one that crawled up on the top shelf of the closet and took a nap. He was like 7-8 at the time.

Lived there for 4 years and nothing surprises me anymore.

I was out working in the yard one day and I just happen to look up and see a little toddler maybe 2-3 years waddling across a busy road with nobody else in site. I ran out and snatched her up from the road and got her out of traffic. I was attempting to get her name - what's your mommy's name...etc. when a local police officer drove by and I flagged him down. I gave him the run down and handed her over. He found the mother about 4-5 blocks away frantically crying and calling for her child that had slipped away on her.

We had the misfortune of having renters from hell move in next door for a couple years. They had six feral kids they "no schooled" that ran around the neighborhood unsupervised. I am guessing it might have taken them a week to even realize one of them had gone missing.
Regardless of what was going on in that household, that dog deserves a big juicy T-bone.

We had a little one that would climb if you took your eyes off him. No lie, turn around and he would be standing on top of a vending machine.

Some kids are just on a different level.

One of the other news links said one of the parents had been working on the roof, while one was doin something with their infant when the kid slipped out.

As a parent, I have so many questions

This news story came on last night and me and my wife were in awe. I can actually understand how something like this can happen. The kid went 7 miles overnight so must’ve hit a sprint right out of the gate.

What we couldn’t understand were the parents. First thing, no way in hell I would show my face to a TV camera or let them near my kid. Embarrassment aside, this would/should emotionally paralyze a parent for weeks. They were showing off scratches on the kid and almost laughing about it. At one point the Dad talked about being in the house in disbelief and not being able to sleep knowing his kid was out there while the town was looking for him. What the serious F dude! I wouldn’t sleep or stop moving until that was found or until someone drug me.
