Hey Folks!

Looking to upgrade my Bushnell Nitro 5 -20 x 44mm on my 6.5cm Tikka and the more I look around the more I end up being lost.

I currently run a Bushnell nitro on my tikka and haven't had any issues with it so far, it's just not the best choice for me (Lowest magnification is too high at 5x for close range shots and the 20x is hardly usable).

The Forum has me lost on what scope to choose as it seems all but the few that passed the drop eval tests are unusable/untrustworthy.
What I would need is:
- 3-12 or 4-16 magnification range
- Available in Canada
- Reasonably priced at 1500 CAD max
- Reliable

The only "budget" option that passed the drop eval as far as I can see are the SWFA Scopes and those are not available for us guys in Canada, so they're out of the question.

Is there anything that fits my nees? Am I just overthinking this really hard and should get a Leupold/Vortex in my price range and run with it?

Hope you guys have some recommendations for me!

Thanks

Not sure about the availability in Canada or price … but have you looked at
Triji credos in. 2.5-15 and 4-16
Nightforce SHV
These are 2nd Focal scopes but have been proven to be reliable

Look hard at the meopta optikka line. Lots of different options. Available at north pro sports in saskatoon. I've been happy with my vortex razor lht 3-15 but they're sure not popular here. A bit over $1500 cdn as well. Rdsc also carries trijicon and nf but theres not much in your budget

Burris has a few worth taking a look but also not sure availability in Canada.
Have 2 low end Burris Fullfields that have been great scopes 3x9x40. Looking at maybe a 2.5 x 10 x 42...
Hope you find a scope that works best for your hunting.

You can import swfa scopes into Canada through Prophet River firearms. I've done it a couple of times now... it's pretty easy just takes a bit of time. The 3-15x should end up being just under your $1500 budget.

Night force SHV line will put you in that price range, they’re around $1300-$1500 right now. $1700 will get you a FFP version.

Trijicons will be in the same ball park. Although the Credo hx’s are hard to come by and the only 2.5-15 I’ve seen is around $1800 these days (they were $1400just last year). I’m pretty happy with mine, been shooting it most of the summer.

No experience with the SWFA scopes. I know they are well tested and used on rokslide, but I don’t know if they would be better than the SHV. Since they both cost the same by the time they’re imported. I’m sure there’s some guys here with time behind both that can offer some insite

Is there a used market in Canada for NF or Trijicon optics that you can take advantage of?
Or can you have a friend in the states mail you one as a "gift"?

Here is your answer if you can get one in Canada and Trijicon says they sell in Canada.

Another vote for Trijicon. I picked up a used Accupoint 3-9 last year and liked it enough that I bought a 2nd one new this year for my other rifle. Available in a handful of online stores, including Tenda, CSC, RDSC.
