Are there any other western states that have early archery hunts that start in the beginning of August. Here in NV it opens on the 10th so I'm lucky here but I'd like to put in for other states. With my job as a teacher, I have to be back to work by the 21st of August and weekends out of town won't work. Any input would be appreciated.

Utah opens mid august. Not sure on the exact date. Idaho has some draw hunts that open on the 15th.

If you want to hunt blacktail it's as easy as just buying a tag, tons of public land in b zone. if you want to hunt muledeer you will have to apply but archery tags are 1-3 years and rifle are 3-7 it's seems

Huh??

You can get a D tag over the counter and hunt "mule deer" (without the long debate on CA deer herd and what species lies where).

In looking at your problem you can hunt our CA A zone starting in July for blacktails. This is an OTC tag. The rest of our hunts for archery do not start until the third Saturday of August. Then rifle starts in Sept. for most northern OTC sierra hunts.

As a side note, Ca. bear season opens the same time as the deer season in each zone so you could combine hunts if you wanted. Lots of bear in Ca.

Only for D and B.

A zone bear does not open until later, there is no bear hunting in July.

I think I'll do my own research on CA through game and fish website. Seems there are some mixed options from you CA guys.

Kickemall- no worries, just wanted to clarify it is all.

slim- I am sure anyone from CA could help answer any questions you may have.
