Attention Mule Deer Hunters

Hello Roksliders,

I found out about this site from another forum. It looks like a great place to get and share information and ideas.

Just a little about myself. I'm a 58 year old gent that loves the outdoors, especially mule deer and elk hunting in my home state of Idaho. I'm looking to meet up with other like minded individuals. I have friends that I can hunt with, but I'm having a tough time finding any that want to go back in a couple of miles and sleep on the mountain and be there at the magic hour before the sun comes up. I don't have horses or a ATV, just a good pair of boots.

I have a couple of areas that I would like to scout but need someone to go with. A friend recently went missing in the Sawtooth mountains and has not been found. So my wife, who never really liked me hunting by myself insists that I find someone to go with whether scouting or hunting. I certainly understand her position.

If you live in the Boise area and you want to get back to where the big boys live, send me a pm. I would like to meet and find out if we may be compatible enough to do some scouting and hunting. Maybe you have some places you would like to check out as well.

Anyhow I hope to hear from someone with the same interests.

Can't hunt with you but wanted to extend a welcome to you. You might also look into getting a inreach to stay in contact with the Mrs while waiting to find a partner

Hey, Idafornian...I have a few years on you, but still get into shape and chase them in the high country. Will be hiking the upper limits of unit 39 near Wolf mountain in a few weeks and, yes...I love to roll out my bag and sleep on the ground a few miles back in. Been doing it pretty much alone for a lot of years. My wife says I'm nuts, and she worries, like yours...but I've been doing this for most of my life and haven't gotten lost or hurt yet. Maybe smart...more likely, lucky.

Where are you wanting to scout? Post me some areas in a reply here on Rokslide and if you get my dander up, maybe we can meet somewhere in Boise and talk about it. I live in Eagle and am always interested in hooking up with someone who likes to get up high and sleep under the stars while chasing the big boys.
