Attacked and killed by wolves

A girl was killed in 2010 by wolves in AK, a forest service worker was treed by wolves in WA in 2018, Alaska also has about 2300 people go missing every year, how many of them are killed by wolves or bears? I've been in the middle of a pack of wolves in the frank church back in 2015 and they had zero fear of humans, especially in the dark, we were shining mag lights at them at under 100 yards and about 8-10 of them were pacing back and forth in the timber howling and barking at us. I have audio of them but didn't have a phone with video at the time.

As wolves get more and more prevalent, we will see more attacks, just like lions and grizzly bears, wolves in much of the west are becoming a major problem. We just saw a big black wolf yesterday here in Eastern Oregon that has been helping to decimate our deer herd over the last few months and there was a video posted of a pack walking down someones driveway a couple miles from my house. Our neighbors have them on trail cams in town, same with lions and bears, it's only a matter of time before someone gets killed again.

A couple of years ago our next-door neighbor that is a teacher, came home on an early release day from school to a lion in the tree above her kids trampoline in their front yard. She went inside and got a rifle and killed it, its just lucky that it was an early release day or here two kids that were in kindergarten and third grade would have been walking home alone from the bus stop.
Why do people put up with that? Its not hard to shoot then with a rifle.

Absolutely!!! If you all are scared of wolves killing you, how do you ever leave the house? You are way more likely to be struck by lightning than injured by a wolf. How do you ever climb a ladder without having a full blown panic attack? Have you seen the stats on falls in the bathroom? Use a little common sense and you will never have to worry about wolves. Just to put it out there I am all for the delisting of wolves, I am pro wolf hunting and I am all for states managing wolves as they see fit.

It’s one of the few apex predators that not only has the capacity to but has historically stalked, killed and eaten people. Just because they typically don’t doesn’t mean they can’t, since statistics dictate it’s only matter of time I’d prefer to not draw the lucky ticket by being unprepared.

I’m not afraid of bears but I carry a gun with me in the woods because I can’t win a fist fight with a 475 pound animal in the event he decides he doesn’t want to run.

Firing my pistol at a tree 3 feet from the pack leader and only having them bark and growl back at me as they paced and surrounded me and my work partner has forever instilled the idea that they just don’t think we are worth it, not that they are afraid. Doesn’t matter if we were on motos, running chainsaws, or 3 feet from the truck they did not like us and were happy to howl at us.

Very much so. I can shoot 1 bear. My rifle doesn't hold enough rounds to deal with a pack of wolves.
Strong argument for a 10mm autoloader over a big bore revolver. Even stronger argument for carrying a sidearm in general even during rifle season.

The best way to make sure you never see a wolf is buy a wolf tag
I can confirm this is accurate. I had a MN wolf tag one of the first years they allowed a state hunt. Sat over my bait for days only to watch ravens, and nothing else, work over my bait pile. Then the state hit their quota and shut down the season on a Thursday. The next Saturday morning I had a pair of wolves on trail camera coming in to my bait at 9am. There is 0% chance I would not have been sitting there if my tag was still good.

For those who say a little common sense can avoid all contact with wolves. Should I not walk to or from my deer stand or bear bait in the dark? Should I make a ton of noise so the wolves know to give me space? Should I not take my bird dog for a walk through aspen regrowth in the fall? Living amongst the greatest population of wolves in the lower 48 makes me a bit sensitive to being told "how it is" by those people that just KNOW.
