Attacked and killed by wolves

Wow. That's crazy. Considering only about 25 people have died from wolf attacks over the past couple of decades, this is super-rare. Most attacks have been attributed to wolves infected by rabies.

I actually do not buy into that myth.

When we lived in Arctic, we heard many stories from the locals about being stalked and some attacked.

Just a couple years ago a very good buddy of mine and his son were stalked by a large pack. They ended the situation by shooting three of them - at 25 yards. This was in Northern BC.

Several documented cases of attacks up in northern SK around the same time as that one. Could look up Fred desjarlais where he put one in a headlock.
Those ones made the news cause they were mine sites. I’m sure the locals could speak of more close calls.

Absolutely crazy. I have a friend who lost a bear hound to wolves a few years back, when he got to the dog’s body he had a heck of a time getting the wolves to leave the area.

They did it routinely all across Europe until the 19th century and were a significant problem in Russia well after that.
I heard/read that the wolves in Europe had a significant impact on both sides in WW1.

I can’t remember the specifics but it would line up with that you mentioned.

It’s sad that some of the people still refuse to admit it was the wolves that killed him. Also crazy how cautious they were about preserving the site, if it’s my buddy I’m grabbing some guns and lights and getting his body out of there asap, not letting them continue to eat him
