A few months ago everyone told me to buy MSRs. Then I was looking up snowshoeing basics on the tube while doing my treadmill.

I pulled up Mindfull hunters review on the atlas. He said he folded up his MSRs. Well frick that's not good. He didn't say how he did it.

I already ordered the MSRs. But wondering if the 35" MTN Ranges would be better? 5'9 and a swoll 200. So I'll probably have a total weight around 280 if I've gotta pack a deer out.
Hunting in some stupid steep country on and off trail.

Thanks fam

Anything can break but my 20 year old
MSR’s are still going strong, I wouldn’t worry about it.
Unless you have concrete like snow conditions at that weight you’re gonna still sink to your knees or more depending on depth. Did you order those tail extensions?

I'm going to. Got the 30" and plan on getting the tails. To be fair later in the video he said he broke the Atlas too lol.
I was just looking at the price difference. For the MSR off camo fire plus the tails off Amazon I'm at about $285 vs $319 or something. Not a huge difference.

Ha I over stress hunting gear to cope with dad stress

Do yourself a favor and quit watching review videos after you have bought whatever it was. Use it for yourself, I have seen a lot of videos that make one second guess about a purchase.
Trust your gut that you did your research and bought the right thing for you.
Good luck and don’t forget a drag sled can be great in the snow for getting an animal out.

Been thinking about a small sled. I've got two sets of horses lined up. But a small otter sled could be handy for gear.

The sleds are nice. Do you have horses or know someone with horses?

I've got two different friends with horses who offered to help. Definitely not banking on them to be there right away. Kind of why I'm planning my hunt for mid/late November. Be able to hang the meat for a few days.
One day if this Montana housing market settles down I'll have some pack stock. Even a few pack burros would be fun.

Ok that’s cool. Do they ride their horses in snow? What I have seen from most horse riders is once there’s about a foot of snow they are done riding. Having that option for help would be great.
