My form 1 kit was approved in 17 days from the day I submitted it online. That alone makes it worth it if your the least bit mechanically inclined.

If you are going to go to the trouble of the paperwork and the cost of the tax stamp to get a can, get a factory one. It will work better
This is not true. Not even a little bit...you can absolutely make a form 1 suppressor that works just as well as factory cans if not better and lighter!

You don't have to weld anything..a lathe and mill are niceties not requirements.
It does take research though.

Most factories numbers are skewd..

Go watch silencer students videos on youtube..he does extensive quality testing.

Not all cans are made the same. The most important "features" of a suppressor are that they at least maintain the rifle's mechanical precision, they are repeatable, size/length/weight (depending on application), then way down the list is noise reduction, then way way down is price.

I like and recommend Thunderbeast because they don't negatively impact precision, they are repeatable, and they have reasonable weight/geometry. The following is seven 3-shot groups from consecutive range sessions using one of my TBAC cans. The suppressor was removed and reattached between groups. All shots during that time are accounted for - no cherrypicking at all. I was using factory ammo, shooting from the prone off of a bipod and rear bag, and the rifle is a lightweight(ish) magnum (my primary hunting rifle). Total 21-shot aggregate is about 3/4-MOA, and I have no doubt there's a bit of shooter error in there.

I know that whenever I pull my can from a rifle to clean or travel or whatever, and put it back on the rifle, I don't need to re-zero.
Yeah that is one of the other things I’m keeping in mind … I’ve seen many suppressors change poi … and even know it’s easy to adjust the scope and keep the suppressor on its still a pain in the ass
