I am building a new arrow setup for elk and was wondering what the thinking is on arrow length. I have always been told 1in from the front of the riser/grip. I am noticing people shooting arrows that are much closer to the rest. I’m shooting a Hoyt with a vapor trail rest. There is plenty of room for any type of broad head to clear. Can I shorten it up?

I have a 32 1/2" draw and all my arrows are cut to 30" carbon to carbon, just in front of my QAD HDX rest. Never had a problem with that, and I shoot a lot of fixed blade heads.

I draw 28in and my arrows are always cut at 26.5in carbon to carbon. Even with the collar on the front of the arrow I have enough space off my Hamskea Epsilon.

A friend of mine draws 31.5in and cuts his arrows to 30in.
