Throwing a wounded living animal in the air, kicking it, tapping and stabbing with a small pocket knife…. What do you call that exactly?

There’s levels of torture or playing with a wounded animal. Is this video the worst? No of course not. But it’s cruel. And here comes more anti hunting legislation.

I think part of what resonated for some of us with A-ron was that he was open with his flaws.
He reminded us that there are paths to redemption despite poor choices and us all being wounded humans.
Whether it was his childhood, struggles with alcohol or interpersonal relationships he tried to be a better man through service to others by being available to anyone with a question.
Were there times when he came across as abrasive and arrogant? Yup. But who here "bats a 1000" day in and day out in their personal lives?
Would he and i get along for any length of time in person? Highly unlikely.
Is this video damaging to hunting? You bet.
I get to judge the action, but not the man.

You asked how to explain it to non hunters, I was giving you an idea, i understand how you think it’s not cruelty. I can all but guarantee that anyone who sees it will view it as cruelty. Doesn’t matter what we have is a 12 second clip that absolutely looks awful to the public eye.

Quick story, my best friend had an absolute goat rope rodeo last year Mt. goat hunting. He did the right/ ethical thing. It resulted in a kid goat getting its throat slit, after a bad initial shot and then other misfortunes. It was hard for him to tell me, he was embarrassed and upset, in no world would he have thought of filming this event and sharing or gloating over it. The 12 seconds ooze of gloating/ look at me, weird machismoism. We have to be better as hunters. Full stop

I agree everyone as humans needs to be better and I’m not talking about this video. Just look at any events in recent years. I believe there are more good than bad people in the world but the bad ones get the light for good reason. To push agendas and divide us against the common good.

That said I don’t care what the non hunting public thinks. They will never be swayed or live in reality. They live in a fairytale world and won’t be happy until you are an unarmed sheep just like them. Stop trying to reason with these people. It cannot be done.

Why aren’t more people focused on the person that got this video into the hands of anti’s? There’s clearly someone that wanted this out there against Aron since it’s been sitting for 8 years.

Was what Aron did good? No, it’s a terrible look and it seems like he’s owning it. Personally, I think BP made a quick, emotional decision because it went viral fast with the wrong crowd.

But the guy videoing, and more importantly, whoever put this out to the other side, in my opinion, are almost more in the wrong here. Why aren’t we as hunters and outdoorsmen, more upset at the fact that now we look a lot worse because someone leaked this video to get back at Aron? Yes, he did it and we can be mad that he participated in fuel for the anti’s. But let’s show the same fire for the guy who leaked it. This will have consequences for hunters and if it truly was one of our own that leaked it, that’s pretty unbelievable in my opinion.

Focusing on the actions, not the person,

1. Who cares if it was leaked? We all have skeletons in our closet to reconcile and account for. If they are on video, that’s even worse. Shouldn’t have filmed it.

2. Who care if BP fired him? That’s their choice as a company.

3. Who cares if it was a hit piece? I would never do this, but I watch it happen day in and day out day out and folks are largely okay with it so long as it benefits their team. Disgusting? Absolutely. Outside the norm? Absolutely not.

4. Killing is killing. Contact a commercial slaughter house. It isn’t pretty. But then again, they don’t advertise it on social media and the follow humane euthanasia standards. It’s hard for me to believe the folks here were out of ammo.

I've said this before and I'll say it again - when you lose the support of the soccer moms, you've just stepped over that boundary that turns into a slippery slope. Regardless of how any of us (hunters) feel about Mr. Snyder or this video, I'm pretty sure the soccer moms would not look favorably on this snippet.

Who cares who filmed it, or who investigated it. I am glad someone did because they exposed an "influencer's" true character.

Based on what I know and have seen I CANNOT and won't pass judgement or form opinions until and if I get the whole story.

We are a fraction of overall population. Here is the truth. Most people have no issue with hunting until we give them one. If we ever got a majority of people hunting you would hunt so infrequently you would most likely lose interest like 1x every 10 or 15 years. Unless you had loads of money to buy tags or access. So yes we absolutely should care what the non hunting public thinks
