Aron Snyder fired from Born Primative

The argument that he was just finishing it off falls flat to me.

I don’t care if you think that video looks fine and perfectly normal to you. It doesn’t to any non hunters, and we are currently holding on to hunting rights in many places by a thread.

No matter who released the video Aron might as well be using that knife to cut that thread by allowing those kind of things to be recorded.

I dispatched a trapped bobcat once with a knife after all other attempts failed. I'm sure it would not have aged well with those who've only eaten shit they killed with their wallet.

I'm notoriously stingy on posting pics or videos after seeing some people's spots and lives get wrecked by 25 seconds of film or a single photo.

Aron did a lot for traditional archery and has a great life story to tell... about success AND failure. I'm sure we all have people who would say we're the best MF'er to know and also have people that wouldn't piss on us if we were on fire by the toilet.

When that other guy in Wyoming hit that wolf with a snowmobile, taped its mouth shut, brought it to a bar for hours, and then strangled it, there were still some people on here defending him. At some point I think people need to recognize how 99% of society looks at this stuff. I can't imagine the mindset Snyder had to be in to record that video and think it was a good idea to post it.

I have been calling coyotes for close to 20 yrs, and I have gained a lot of respect for them. I always try to put them down quickly, but sometimes it can be a rodeo. The video definitely doesn't look good on the hunting community, and it's not the smartest way to dispatch an animal. But it's a better effort than a lot of clowns these days who wound coyotes, and then go on to say it's just a stinking coyote. Its pretty obvious a lot of you have never seen a wounded coyote fished out of a hole with a piece of barb wire, or seen guys run greyhounds. Watching a pack of greyhounds on a coyote is way more brutal than what Aron did. And it's obvious that some of you just have a beef with him for some reason.

Yup.

Animals occasionally need dispatched. This should be done quickly and with as little suffering on the part of the animal as possible. Whether it's a mouse or a moose.

Quick pop with a rifle or a pistol and that's over.

All the shenanigans Aron got up to, throwing it and kicking it were unnecessary, especially when on video.

It was definitely a different situation but to me it's a mindset regarding predators that some hunters don't realize makes them look like psychopaths. I think predators get treated with a completely different set of ethics by some people around here. It comes off as very offputting and cruel.

The coyote was attacking a ranchers calf... coyote ends up wounded... Aron drags it out of the brush, chases it down kicks it in the head then stabs it... coyote dispatched within 30 sec.

Have you ever seen hog hunters with dogs stab a pig?

Just going off other people's words, it seems like Aron has burned a lot of bridges and even tried or threatened to ruin other people's lives in the hunting industry. It's not hard to believe that someone would try to do the same to him. Reap what you sow...

The more stuff like this happens, the more I agree with the hunt quietly perspective. Hunting should be akin to fight club. Anyone that’s hunted or fished enough has been through rodeos. Those rodeos shouldn’t see the light of day for the masses of non hunters to be swayed to anti hunters. Sucks for Aron, I think he’s a nice dude. He just made a post about getting off social media and hunting for the sake of hunting. Good for him. If we all collectively did that, we’d be better off.

Right or wrong it’s clear more than a few antis on social media are running w this video. No doubt the optics of it has looong legs with that crowd as well as other folks who do not hunt. Or (again right or wrong) the optics of this disgusts just about anyone who is not a die hard trapper as they all see this video in the same light..

In the end optics like this makes it easier for votes like the wolf one here in Co to get the votes needed as it turns off your average voter to hunters in general = optics are that bad w this video.

Maybe this is his chance to start a company he actually owns as I don’t think he has ever sat in that chair…..

I read half this thread before watching the video. I was expecting much worse. Dispatching a wounded animal with a knife in the ribs is perfectly acceptable, and humane, in my opinion. Allowing it to be recorded is stupid, as it will invariably end up on the internet, especially if you are an “hunting influencer”. Idiots (influencers) with iPhones, and their access to the internet, have done far more damage to hunting than peta or any of the antis could ever hope for.

Down here in the south, my grandfathers’ generation would always finish a wounded animal with a knife. I don’t know if it was to save the money of the bullet, or they thought it was the ethical/honorable way to do it. I wish I had asked him before he died.
