I started turkey hunting in Arizona when I moved here in 2021 and did archery in 2021-2023 with no luck. Took a couple year break after the birth of my youngest that's now 2.
Went out this last weekend to unit 27 in Arizona for a shotgun turkey hunt. Morning of day 3/3 started with a real feel temperature of 28 degrees with misting rain that turned to freezing rain. Used my inreach to confirm there shouldn't be any precipitation, so I was confident it would clear. I had a spot picked to sit all day on day 3. I had seen a turkey at a distance on day 1. Then on day two I sat for 6 hours in that spot with no action, only to come back at dusk and found fresh mushy poop. So I knew I just needed to commit to sitting until my hunt was over.
Luckily for me, two toms ran in after about an hour and a half of sunsrise right where I thought they would walk. Took my shot and finally bagged my turkey!
