Arizona Javelina January 2020 Question - Experts, help a brother out

Guys, last year I hunted AZ Unit 33 in January for OTC deer and Javelina. I am getting ready to head there on Jan 17th for Deer again, but looking through the regulations it looks like they killed the OTC Javelina tag for that unit. Am I correct?

The January archery javelina tag are all draw and have been for years. There’s nearly always left over tags for a bunch of units. The 1st come draw is over for leftovers, so you would have to check the list on the AZGFD website, and if there are any left for 33 you can get one at any game and fish office. You can’t buy them where you buy your Non permit tags though( Walmart etc).

That tag has never been OTC. There have been leftovers in years past, but not this year. You would have had to apply back in October.

You know you are right. Damn I’m getting old. Forgot I did a draw for that tag last year. Man I screwed up.

Actually, they were OTC when I was a kid. You could go to Yellowfront ( it’s an Az store, long gone. Thanks, Walmart) and get your license, and all non permit tags including pigs. But, that’s going back 25+ years
