Hi trying to decide between these two tents before my dad comes out West for the first time to hunt. We will both be sleeping in it.
Some truck hunting, some backpacking.
Any advice or experience with these tents would be great in making a decision.

Are you looking at the 4 person BA Copper Spur, or smaller Spur (3 person/2 person)? And, do you have any interest in running a stove at some point?

I own an Absaroka with a full insert, and a friend has the 2 person Copper Spur. They're both great tents, but very different in their own ways. I prefer the extra head room, space, and flexibility of the Absaroka.

We rarely use the Copper Spur at this point. It was a great tent that got us started backpack hunting. The freestanding nature of it made it nice if the ground was extremely rocky, and being a 2 person made finding a site a little easier. However, we were crammed in there and would recommend going to at least a 3 person for more space. Which then negates the smaller size of the tent.

I will say, the Copper Spur has stayed in our friends gear closet since our group has acquired an Absaroka, Rincon, SO Guardian, and soon to be a couple Lemhis. We also tend to prefer to tarp/bivy if weather and bugs aren't an issue. Otherwise, we carry the full inserts for those tents.

I was going to get the 3p copper spur I think. I have never ran a stove before but it sounds nice, especially in late season CO.
