Hey Guys,

Wondering what height Area 419 Match rings to get with the Nightforce NX8 4-32x50. Currently have the scope on order so I can't do the coin measuring method they recommend from the Area 419 vids.

Low. Even with a barrel that doesn't taper, low is fine. Low is all I've used on 3 different rifles.

Id say you need to know your barrel contour dimensions as well near action. I had to switch from low to medium when using a 1.25 shank rather than 1.20 your milage may vary. Disclaimer i use NF rings same NXS though but id think same idea.

Are these the rings to get? They look like they have more surface/contact area on the scope than the hunt version. I am thinking these may be better for my magnum.

The hunt rings are plenty. The first time you try these rings you won't use anything else. They grip the scope so good. When you set the scope into them it's amazing. Even without the caps on it doesn't move

Are folks sticking to the recommended torque values on these rings? I’m not an engineer, but they seem low when you compare them to similarly designed rings.

While I don’t have 419 rings, I have UM rings but considered 419 when I did my build. The UM sit lower at .88 then Area 419 at .94. I run a Nx8 4-32x50 on a carbon barrel with plenty of clearance. Most 50mm objectives will work with lows.
NF can handle the torque of any ring manufacturer specs. Just torque to ring spec and send it.

But your barrel contour will be your deciding factor on how low you can physically go. But other considerations would be what’s comfortable when shooting. Are you jamming your face down into the comb to get a clear picture or does it come to natural point of aim. Just a thought.
