While I’m not entirely sure what the goal is for storming the capitol...what would you have these “true patriots” do? Sit by and say “ok, I’d like more please” to the blatant fraud and subversion going on? Isn’t that what we’ve been doing since like... ever? Where has that gotten us?

Say what you want and roll eyes while you sit there in the comfort of your own home, we know where you’ll be when “true patriots” really need you.

It’s sad and I don’t agree with what’s happening at all-Think about this for a second: the media called the people that looted and trashed St Paul and MPLS “Protestors”. The same media is calling the people protesting at DC “Rioters”. The media is so one-sided that they are trying to control the way people think about each situation. Then look at Facebook-every post that has the word Trump in it has a pop up saying that there was no fraud found in the election.
I can’t wait until this is all over, but it there was any fraud or evidence of wrong doing, it needs to be brought to the surface if we have any shot at trusting the voting process in the future.

I find it hilarious how people are up in arms about this but sat by silently over the past 4 years as BLM and ANTIFA incited violence, riots and destruction of property across the country.

Oh but now that it’s Trump supporters it’s the worst thing ever.

Sort of like how Trump rallies were labeled as “superspreader” events but hoards of unmasked, sweaty, screaming protesters in groups as big as 30,000 roaming the streets was no risk for covid.

It seems like a group of bad apples just pushing things, no matter what the cause.

That said, there is so much unrest in society right now and people aren’t afraid to voice their opinions and really push their agendas, whereas in years past they would have just been disgruntled and waited for the next election.

Something is different with these protests this last year or these last few years with the “violence” or “vandalism” that goes with these things.

I had to discus this whole thing today on the way home from school with my kids and tried to discuss what protesting is and how you have to watch for those within a protest who are their just to cause chaos. And, how, if friends ever go down that path, to end that friendship because there can be guilt by association.

I think when look back at how much forced reform and defunding of Law Enforcement occurred over the last year, I think it accomplished a ton. It got BLM and Antifa to be recognized as "movements" rather than terrorists/insurgents. I would argue that it changed the course of a presidential and national legislative election.
I think the precedent has been set over the past few years that the best way to accomplish something in society or politics is to force it on others. There has been a quick erosion of respecting the position of others, accepting that there are other needs and wants by others, and civilly working things out. The new playbook is to create societal chaos, place blame, create a corner for those who try to play by the rules to be painted into, and then promote a with us or against us false solution.

I believe scenarios like what happened over the summer and what is taking place today in DC are going to be a part of every week life moving forward.
