Ok so we are planning a trip elk hunting this year with the highest elevation being around 12500 feet. We are in our 6th week of training. Im wondering if what we are doing is a good start and see what everyone else would do. We always start the workout off with 1 mile on treadmill at 3.5mph with a 3 to 3.5 incline just to get heart pumping. Then we do whatever days body parts at hight intensity. We do 8-9 different exercises at 3 sets with 10-20 reps all in about 45min. Then we finish off with a faster .5 to .75 mile with an incline from 10-15. Any input would be great. Thanks

Tim

Sounds like you have a good program going Tim. Your building endurance and strength and your starting off early in the year to give you plenty of time to be prepared. Avoid injury be consistent and add in some interval training and it sounds like you will be well prepared. Good luck.

Ok thanks. I was hoping that would be good start. We talked about after our turkey season and planting season that we would start interval training for muscle confusion. Hopefully this goes well LOL

I would work your aerobic system more with longer runs, bike rides and/or hikes. Think about what a day in elk country is like and prepare for it.
