Are people still interested in 300 RUMs or RUMs in general?

I currently own a Mdl 700 BDL stainless/synthetic chambered in 300 RUM and I am looking to maybe downsize to a 30-06, .270, or maybe a short mag to have as a lighter weight Elk/Caribou/Moose rifle. (I'm thinking Kimber Montana) I've shot this rifle a bit and I'm just not sure if it is for me. Is there much of a market for this caliber? Prices seem to be all over the place and I have a fair bit of brass/bullets and factory ammo to go along with if I decide to part ways. I know components can get scarce for these calibers and can potentially be a limiting factor for a buyer.

I would appreciate some feedback/opinions on this matter. I live in WI so there is not much of a market here in my neck of the woods so I figured that I would ask you all here.

I love my 300 RUM. I got it as a Christmas present from my dad when I was in college. That was 15+ years ago and it is my go to rifle. I've taken whitetail and mule deer at distances from 75-350 without issue. Hopefully next year I'll get to try it out on an elk.

I have a Remington sendero in 300 RUM. It is my go to rifle any time there is the possibility of shooting beyond 300 yards. It has gotten the job done on several whitetails and a few mule deer over the years.

It does seem that the 300 rum's popularity has dropped off in recent years judging by the manufacturers offering the chambering.

It seemed to me that the RUM's were mildly popular here in Alaska when they first arrived. VERY popular with guided clients for some reason. This summer when I went to buy a "bigger gun", I don't think I saw a single one on the shelf. When I occasionally do, it's usually in a fairly flashy semi custom like the Fierce or Christensen.

Personally I ended up buying a plain vanilla .338 WM to fill the magnum hole. I suppose I might have considered the RUM if there had been any around, but there just wasn't.

No idea what the used market is for them elsewhere, but it can't be very hot in WI at all! Texas maybe?

Thank you for the feedback everyone. This was originally an impulse purchase and since I reload for all of my firearms, I find it getting easier and easier to talk myself into firearms that I may not need...at least not yet anyways... Well thanks again, and it seems that maybe I need to sit and chew on it a bit before making any decisions.

Still a great round, but there are just more of them out there now too. Back when they were newer there were less used rifles on the market so they brought more money. Now there is plenty of supply so the used prices have come down. On top of that, there are more options these days as well.

FYI... My local Scheels has the CA Classic in 300rum on sale for $1999, wish I had the cash.

.338RUM fan here.
I was after a sledge hammer, not a laser wand.
I reamed out a .338wm to get mine, before they were available. that was 1999.
Was looking at the .330Dakota, wanted 24" drop at 500 with a ton of KE to 750.
Then my issue of Shooting Times arrived and there on the cover was my answer.
A pile of elk and a few bear later...Haven't looked back.

Love my 300 rum. Would not shoot another gun for Western big game. Have taken several deer, elk, and bear with it.
If looking to sell, Armslist has worked for me. I picked up a 375 rum there since hard to find.
Agreed, components are hard to find sometimes but once you have them it's all good.

I'm love my 300 RUMS. I think it's the best of the big 300s. Brass can be a bitch at times but if you look around you can find it. What I like about the Rum is that with lighter rifles it has quite a bit less recoil than a big 338. But with the 230s it can kill way out there.
