Arcteryx rain gear

Nice feedback-- and awesome pic! Your Chugach comments make sense, especially since the Chugach and Beta AR are within one ounce of each other.
Are you using Yukon pants and gaiters? I'm sure that, given how you are dressed, you considered the Yukon jacket since you had issues with the build/longevity of the Chugach, but opted for the Arc'teryx top over the Yukon anyway. Was weight part of the factor in that decision, or the superior waterproofing/breathability on the Beta AR, along with feeling the Beta AR is rugged enough that the Yukon wasn't enough improvement in ruggedness to justify purchase? Or do you use both, with Yukon top for some applications and Beta AR for others?

I'm looking at upgrading, and thinking I'll eventually land on Yukon pants and either Beta AR top or Yukon top. Understanding there is a small weight penalty for the Yukon, small noise penalty for the Beta AR, and some different features that seem to come down to personal preference (e.g. hood style, camo option, etc). Still trying to figure out durability; I'm not particularly hard on gear personally, but live around very thick brush, regularly going through alder regrowth and devil's club, climbing over/under logs and rock outcroppings, etc for lower-elevation hunts and/or on the way to alpine.

I actually had my Chugach pants with me on that trip to the Brooks. Again, they do a great job, just not for years at a time or in sustained wet environments. I’m in the market for a new pair of pants right now. Tried on a lot of the stone glacier rain pants and they feel like they’re thicker than the Chugach but lighter than the Yukon.

My sheep hunting partner tried the Kutana system last year. He wore them on an an October bear hunt in the Aleutians and promptly sold them upon the return. Soaked to the bone in driving rain.

Just my opinion, but all these super light, breathable rain systems work great for the average western hunter where fairly arid climates prevail. From my experience in Alaska where we can get rain and or snow setting in for days or even a week they just don’t cut the mustard. My Idaho elk kit looks a lot different than my brooks range Alaska kit.

That said, Arc Teryx rain gear is as good as it gets for my purposes here in Alaska. It has kept me warm and dry on 10 day sheep hunts where we never saw the sun. I’m not very brand loyal and try to support hunting companies where I can. My clothing kit includes Kifaru, SG, FL, Arc Teryx, Icebreaker and smart wool.

Provide a receipt to goretex and fill out their online warranty thing.
100% certain they will take care of you on that.

I’ve sent 3 items to be fixed at arcteryx over the years and both them and Gore-Tex themselves have always treated me well.

I tend to get 3-4 years before a gore Tex starts to delaminate. We live in these things for a good portion of the year outside. Currently have an Alpha SV and it’s been my favourite of the bunch. Don’t mess around with lightweight gore Tex. Get the burliest stuff you can get

Just tried doing warranty claim online (beta jacket), but since I couldn't find original receipt ... was told to wait until july 1st or so and then send it to service center for evaluation.

It should quiet down a bit with use. Definitely not intended for hunting but IMHO Arcteryx is some of the best rain gear you can buy. I have a pair of LEAF pants/jacket going on 10 years and it’s still some of my favorite rain gear
