I have one of each at the house (both new). I have compared insulation types, Atom is a bit more active, Cirque Lite a bit more static. The Atom is a bit lighter, but feels much lighter. The fit of the Atom fits as it should. The SG Cirque fits like a blind taylor got drunk and started to put something together on a broken Singer sewing machine.

I can deal with fit issues. If you have tried both jackets while hunting or hiking which did you prefer and why?

If the atom fits you better and has materials you prefer, to me, it sounds like you have an answer. If the fit isn’t right for you on the SG I doubt you’ll ever come to love it.

Personally, I have a cirque light and it’s one of my favorites pieces. The material has been fairly tough for tears, despite feeling like it should have torn more than once. I do have quite a bit of piling where it has frequently contacted Velcro and nylon webbing. It wicks moisture exceedingly well compared to other jackets I’ve tried. I don’t have experience with the atom, however, for what it’s worth.

Thx. If I were wearing it out on the town the Atom all day. But, your response is the tupe of info I am looking for. Fit is the least of my concerns. Most concerned about warmth, whether it breaths reasonably well considering it is Prima Loft Gold static insulation and moisture wicking

I’ve hiked extensively in the Atom and love it. I got a used Cirque Lite to try at one point. It had weirdly shallow pockets that i didn’t care for. I also love the way the Atom zips up around the chin. You can tuck your chin in perfectly which is great on a cold day. I sold the Cirque Lite due to those two features. The rest seemed almost identical. I did like the grid fleece sides on the Lite more than the regular fleece on the Atom but i guess that can also cut both ways (breathable vs warmth).

I've had both as well. I've had the atom for I don't even know how long, maybe close to 10 years, maybe longer. It still looks new, while the cirque, and cirque lite i've had pill like crazy after very little use. The pilling doesn't really both me too much, a lint shaver thing will take care of the pilling, but the fabric gets a weird crinkled/thin/worn look to it anywhere something like a pack strap touches. But the main reason i do not have the cirques anymore is the fit, specially around the chin. I like to be able to zip up the zipper around my neck, atom allows that, probably because they are made with a helmet compatible hood.
