Thankful to have drawn a DAV RD tag this year. I’m planning on coming out the first week in September for archery season. I’m not looking for spot or units just some general info. Appreciate any insight!

1.Are muleys still in velvet early September?
2. Are bucks holding up high during that time? Or are they in most elevation bands.
3. Typical temps in the mountains in sept?

I’m expecting the mountains to be slammed with elk hunters, so I’ll be prepared to put in some miles. If anyone is coming out to SD I’d be happy to return the favor!

1. Yes
2. For the most part yes, but there's deer high and low.
3. Warm with potential for cool nights and rain/thunderstorms/hail. Slight chance of snow at the highest elevations.
