What about the problem of your head getting cold when it's like 30deg out and you're in a quilt?
Always wear a beanie (from light merino to heavy wool or down) when using a quilt

I've tried the beanie thing, and below 30 or so my face and neck just get too cold. I've tried sleeping with a gaiter and found that uncomfortable too, so I just went back to a mummy bag. I guess it's not an issue for some people though.Always wear a beanie (from light merino to heavy wool or down) when using a quilt

How are you hanging your bivy in there? I have a Bora bivy that I use for a little half nest and I’m torn as getting that for a big solo TP and also the ability to use for a second person if they come with me.I can’t find any “hunting” pics of the setup but here’s a couple from a summer fishing trip. Any particular information you’d like to know about it? Maybe I can answer without a pic.

I like running a stove in the colder months currently right now I’m using the super tarp, but it is a little tight
I pm’d youOf course neither pic shows it…. but it’s being held up by a short piece of bungee cord tied to one of the clothes line loops near the top of the tipi. Taught enough to hold the top up but enough stretch to give me play if needed.
That’s a MLD Solomid nest in the pic. I was trying it out for a little more head and sit up room vs my Borah Gear bivy. I’ve been using the BG bivy for a few years and have zero complaints. Scored that MLD nest so cheap I couldn’t pass up the deal. If weight is a concern, I’ll grab the bivy. If I can spare the weight then the head room of the nest is quite nice.
I’ve got a Seek Outside half nest I haven’t used that I was planning to carry for a second person if necessary but wouldn’t want to cram 2 adult guys in there unless it’s an emergency. I’d be willing to let it go if you want a full half nest set up.
