It is hard for me to imagine how this guy remained calm and collected while his girlfriend was strong armed out of her first buck (and a nice one).

So much just dosent add up, he confirmed that the deer he was shooting at didn’t have a collar then as soon as they saw it he’s like “yeah man actually that is my buck”.

It's not clear to me that he thought they were the same deer, but otherwise I agree with you.

Therein lies another problem. The fact that the couple at least identified that the buck they shot had a collar should have given old boy pause when he finished their buck.

Around here, first blood wouldn’t mean anything. The animal goes to the killing shot, or the meat is shared on a group drive. Antlers/skull/hide go to the killing shot or to the clubhouse.

Exactly who and how is the “kill shot” decided?
What if someone pops a few shots into a downed deer. Are their shots the “kill shot”?
Seems as arbitrary and very subjective.

I’m my circles we don’t interject ourselves into someone else’s harvest without asking, unless there no opportunity to ask, we then apologize and congratulate the hunter once the game is recovered.

By his own admission he was batting cleanup on a wounded buck that the hunter was actively trying to recover.
He should have congratulated her and moved on. I’m guessing he realizes that by now.

I just wonder how his party managed to miss that the deer had a collar. Dude needs better glass.

The funny thing is that the guy could have made himself a hero, had great story to publish, and not have ruined his reputation by just being a good sportsman. Sometimes the trophy aspect is blinding over what really matters in life. Both of these hunters must lay in the beds they've made.

That’s what I was thinking. This guy likely makes a comfortable living shooting guns, talking about guns and testing out guns on hunting trips that he dosent pay for out of his own pocket.

But he still does something like this….in front of his kid which makes it even more disturbing.

That’s what I was thinking. This guy likely makes a comfortable living shooting guns, talking about guns and testing out guns on hunting trips that he dosent pay for out of his own pocket.

Was hoping there’d be a classic story of throwing hands and the victor took the buck. Instead we’re left with a man’s wife who wears the pants and a narcissist with a horrible 80’s porn stache trying to sway the votes like a politician.
