Just built a 6 ARC for my daughter to hunt with. 20” barrel getting 2673fps with factory 103gr ELDx. I’m sure it will be a handy round out to 300 yards on deer. I’ve taken several hogs and feral goat in Tx with my 5.56 AR-15 along with a bunch of coyotes. I actually enjoy hunting with mine.

Awesome man, 6mmARC is what I'm going with with mine. What barrel did you go with? I'm waiting on my barrel, I ended up going with Compass Lake, a 20" fluted Criterion varmint profile barrel. Are you seeing good accuracy with yours?

The versatility and ergonomics can’t be beat. Killed tons of coyotes and my son got an antelope this year too.

We got a custom barrel from a gentleman in Tx who does some hobby work. He actually just cut down a burned out PRS barrel and rechambered it to 6ARC and added the barrel extension and machined it down to .750 for the gas block. It turns out it’ll park 3 inside about 3/4” at 100yards.

Midway USA had CMMG complete uppers with 20” barrels for like $449 the Other day. I almost bought one for me. The 6ARC seems like a sweet little cartridge.

Finally killed a doe with mine yesterday evening. Worked as well as any other cartridge I’ve used and was nice to never lose sight picture. I’m a believer.

Are these elk pics 223/5.56 results?
I've keep planning/thinking about doing something like a 6arc/6.5 grendel build, but after my results with handloaded 77tmk's in the 556, I keep coming back to... why? It would be cool to play with a new caliber, but other than that, I think I'm going to keep using 556 until something needs to be changed.
I just built up a sweet 18 inch 7lb 15oz/35.5 overall length AR with 4x12 scope that, assuming the WOA barrel shoots like I want, that's going be my go-to for next year.

(Edit to add, when I asked why? above, it's rhetorical. I'm meaning for me, which currently means sub 400yard whitetails. I do get there are reasons for the other cartridges and wish I had one of all them:)

Two elk this year so far with this AR. 555 yards and 80’ish yards.

I’ve got a 6.5 grendel AR. Shooting 95 gr VMax out of it. Kids have shot 3 deer with it and I’ve shot 1. Pretty good performance. I’ve been thinking about puting together another 223 with a faster twist barrel for heavier pills like the “Form Special” that is obviously a performer but also considering another grendel also. First world problems eh?

I’ll add a few pictures later. Tapatalk isn’t loading them now…

I've killed deer with 5.56 back in the day. Recently picked up a 6.5 Grendel Upper from PSA and topped it with a Gen1 Ares 2.5-15. Got a load of 123 SST together and shot a doe at 200yards. The bullet really performed great on my sample size of one. Definitely will continue to shoot deer sized animals. I personally prefer a bit more oomph for elk though I bet it would work just fine in a few spots I hunt.

A lot of states don’t allow hunting with .22 caliber, Colorado being one of them. The AR I built my son, I went 6.8SPC and it’s been awesome for deer and antelope. It shocks the hell out of me each time he’s been successful with it just how efficient and effective it is on medium size game. Since it’s his rifle, that’s what really made me want to build one for myself. I’m going 6mm ARC for mine just to try something different. I have a fond familiarity with AR style rifles from my military days and really enjoy shooting them. Looking forward to seeing what this 6mmARC can do

I hunt with 18" and 12.5" 6.5 Grendels. Took deer, yotes, groundhogs and few squirrels. Had a Beowulf that dropped few hogs, but I've traded it for Fierce 300 WSM that I've sold last year.

It all depends for me. If I’m just going out to the stand in our pasture then I’ll take the AR in 308. If I’m going any further I’ll be taking my bolt gun just due to it being almost half the weight.

Hunting pigs I’m taking my 8” 300 blackout suppressed every time. I just need to pony up for a thermal
