Not an April Fool's Day prank, but still one that gets talked about around the family was New Years Eve with all the Y2K hubbub (sheesh, 25yrs ago now - I am getting old). No one knew what to expect and we were all gathered at my parents place and a few minutes before midnight, I snuck down in to the basement. As I heard everyone counting down upstairs, at midnight I threw the breaker for the house and listened to everyone upstairs freak out - including my mom and her "Well all be dam%ed"... let it play out for a few minutes until they all started noticing that the neighbors lights were still on. Was a once in a lifetime prank!

My old boss had a nasty habit of giving lectures about the dangers of driving in the woods and towing trailers for work then putting dings dents etc in his truck the next day. One time an hour after one said safety meeting we watched him jackknife a trailer into an alumiduty bed tearing a hole in the bed. Anyways after so many whoopsies we decided to hold a fake meeting to distract him on April 1st so we could bubble wrap his whole truck especially the mirrors since he was on his third. He took it like a champ.

I have no idea why but I just can’t get into pranks any more. The last one I did was 25 years ago when I Dixie cupped a guy’s hotel room when he got married. That’s where you get a shit ton of Dixie cups, fill them with water and cover every horizontal surface of the room, bed, luggage, TV, floor, the whole thing. Just stack them up etc.

I love a good prank. Like bubble wrapping a truck, or silly fun stuff like the water running all over the laundry.

Pranks where you damage somebody’s property (like the canned food label removal) are not funny. Why don’t you just take some money out of his wallet and burn it…. Hilarious. I guess it’s funny if you’re not the one paying.

The other pranks I’m not fond of are ones where the victim has to do a whole bunch of work to clean up your mess. Again… why is this funny?

One of my coworkers had a wall switch by his desk that turned on his desk lamp by heating up an outlet behind the desk. We took a belt sander and plugged it into the outlet, and engaged the trigger lock so the sander was in run position. That way when he turned on his desk lamp like he did every single morning, the belt sander would come shooting out from under his desk. Then we all sat in the dark waiting for him to open the door and hit the switch. It was funny but he wasn’t as startled as we hoped. He was an unnaturally calm dude.

Had years of fun with and Annoyatron, it would make random noises or set it for one noise at random times. You find a lot out about your coworkers.

One sound was a guy scratching saying "hey let me out of here" The office lady really thought she was hearing voices and checked herself into a mental health facility. Come to find out she was really crazy but the voices didnt help....

I put it in my bosses office with a "cat meow" on random, I put in on the backside of his big oak desk. He stripped his entire office, chairs, books, computer, book shelves, even took the light fixture, wall outlet and drop tile ceiling down.

We had a fabricator in a well ventilated room. I set the Anoyatron to a random beep, heard nothing for 3 months. Figured it was too noisy in that room to hear this tiny device. After that we asked the guy one day "did you hear that" The look of excitement he had, we heard it!!! He whipped out his notebook and had pages of date, times ect that he heard the beep. Come to find out he really liked meth.....
