Anybody pull a good April Fools prank this year or have one pulled on them? I usually have something good, but after so many years of pulling pranks (on April 1 and other random days) my coworkers and family know my antics, so I don’t even try.

My best one?
I put some photos of a really nice almost new Harley on craigslist. Made up an ad with a crazy low price. Like 40% of what it was worth. Mentioned I was done with riding and just wanted the bike gone. Show up with the cash and the bike is yours. Title in hand.
Oh, the contact name and phone number was my brother:)
He said his phone rang off the hook for 2 solid days from people all over the country

I have an employee who has wanted to wear shorts to work for a long time. I had everyone but him wear shorts yesterday to the office, except for him. He was a good sport. It turned out really well. Everyone enjoyed it.

I brought him a pair of shorts to put on so he could join in, but he passed. It was quite funny.

I try to do things in the office to make the atmosphere fun and light. The work is sometimes too much or boring, so having a good day with everyone makes the day more enjoyable.

My kids (13,11,9) put pink sparkly valve stem covers on my pickup. Went to work in the dark, hadn't noticed them. Had a co-worker text to ask if I was feeling fabulous when he saw them.

Simple, easy, got a laugh out of several people. Honestly I had a bit of a proud dad moment. They don't yet realize that dad pranks can happen any day of the year!

It wasn’t this year, but back when I worked for the facilities maintenance dept for the city, we sent out a memo on 4-1.

“We will be cleaning the phone lines today with compressed air. Some dust may blow out of the mouthpiece on your phone. It is advised that you cover your mouthpiece with a hanky or tissue.”

It was fun as I traveled around the facilities to see a few people with some kind of cloth over their phones. Most people didn’t fall for it but found it amusing.

Last night right after I went to bed and got to sleep my wife came running into the bedroom hollering "THERE IS WATER RUNNING ALL OVER THE LAUNDRY ROOM". Still half asleep I jump up and run thru the house in my underwear. When I get to the laundry room there are shoes all over with a water bottle in each shoe. I just stood there a second trying to process WTF is going on. And about that time my kids and wife start laughing. Not sure where she got that one from.

I didn't have any good ones this year really.

Best one was a number of years ago, working around a few guys, I was talking about how Craigslist had ads for a bunch of sex parties and stuff.

Got a bunch of people to start calling one of the guys that evening, they were following up on his Craigslist ad....

Kids filled faucet head with food coloring. I filled my metal bottle in dark. Just had a dumb look on my face when they asked if I noticed anything.

Not April Fool's, but some years back we put an ad in the Minneapolis Star Tribune that ran the day after Christmas that said, "Wanted: Used Christmas Trees. Top dollar paid." We put a coworker's home number on it. He said he had a few calls but not many. Dang, we thought. Then I ran into his wife and she said they had hundreds and hundreds of calls! Ahh, much better!

When I worked in a school someone put a sign on the copy machine

"This is a voice activated copy machine. Clearly say your name and stuff number and how many copies you want "

Normally I post something on Facebook about how bears shed their claws and if you catch a clawless bear you can wrestle it. Got some fun reactions.

Not April Fools but an 11 year old I know convinced a California kid that in Alaska our kids would catch baby moose and ride them to school.

I can tell you from an employee to a cool boss during a start up these kinds of things do matter.

It doesn't have to be big, but small gestures just to let them know you listen and care will make them work pretty hard for you.

This was a pretty good one.

Had a few keys on my keyboard switched around when I got into the office. Noticed that pretty quick. Tried the saran wrap door trick but no one fell for it.

We did send a team wide email that one of the PM's office is now a third jobsite conference room. Named it the "Pineapple Conference Room" and put an upside down pineapple logo on his door. Booked a few meetings in there and started to have one in there. That was pretty funny.

That is great. I am going to have to use that one on my brother in law.
