I just got a new in box ‘95 marlin.

45/70
blue, walnut
four round rube magazine
round barrel.
Never been hunted or shot

got this in a trade. Nice gun, but lever guns aren’t my style. I don’t want to rip anyone or rip myself when I trade/sale this. I’d appreciate your thoughts.

Going by letter and number codes, I’m guessing it was a 2018 year gun.

Traded it for a saw I didn’t need anymore. I’ve got about 9 chainsaws. Need to thin em down But what’s your point?

@keystone112 .
thats interesting. I was thinking 900-1100, with 1k a good happy in between. Thanks, mister. But I don’t think I’ll be asking for 14-15.

I think in 2018 was around the “remlins”. I bought one around the same time for $700ish. A lot of the hardcore lever guys are drooling over the ruger made ones right now. The Remington made ones get a lot of hate. No issues with mine. If you struggle with selling it and notice a few flaws, the loading gate being rough comes to mind, you can replace them with parts from ranger point precision. I have no idea of a selling price right now. Searching “remlin 45-70” should at least bring up some similar models

I think remlins start around 2008, early ones were poor quality and will bring less. Later ones were better ie 2016+. Jm marked will be higher value. I would guess sub $1k for a remlin and $1200 ish for a jm.

That’s about my knowledge of them! Well that and they sling 430gr hard cast, gas checked lead at an average of 1730fps!

You can check places like gunbroker and guns international to get an idea. That being said, not all guns listed on there have are priced at market value, I have seen some guns sit for months because of high prices.

As above, if it’s one of the Remington made guns it won’t bring what the older marlins do. I’d expect you could get around $800-1k for it without too much trouble. I have one of the 336s from that same time frame and it’s a great gun as far as performance. I was able to cerakote and restock it without worrying about harming a collectible!

If it was a JM marked gun you could get $1200 no problem for any model, a JM guide gun $1300-$1500 and a SS version $1500 +. If its a remlin though, good luck, most people are aware what pieces of junk those things are. $800 would be doing good on a remlin, many people like myself wouldnt buy one at any price.

Posts like this tempt me to sell my like new JM SS Guide Gun! But every time I pull that little safe queen out, I can justify a number of reasons to hang on to it.
