Apex Afterburner

Here's another data point for the Apex Afterburner. Shot a doe last night with the 135 grain afterburner from my 30-06. 430 yd shot, impact velocity around 2250 fps. The doe was quartering towards a lot more than I thought she was, the bullet hit just above and forwards of the left shoulder, and exited center of the right rib cage. She jumped up and ran about 30 yards. Internal wounding fell in line with what these bullets normally do: not quite as dramatic as a soft lead-core, but better than an expanding mono. And the wound channel looked very consistent from entry to exit. There was also several inches of organ pulled through the exit. Sorry for the blurry pics, it was a long hot day, but you can see how this bullet separated the left shoulder meat from the ribs.

Interesting that it appears to be tumbling. Their goal is similar to Hammer where the top is supposed to shear off and have a flat base that drives through

Why does it look like it was tumbling? If you're talking about the oblong exit hole, that just lines up with a straight trajectory through the deer which was quartering towards; entered left side right at the base of the neck and exited right side bottom of the ribcage.

The exit hole is what I was looking at. I must’ve missed how hard it was quartering to
