A reality show from Korea- kind of a lame premise- what's the best physique?, but the show actually is pretty fun to watch. They have a 100 folks, guys and gals from some very different backgrounds- models to Olympians, cross fitters to MMA fighters, body builders to stunt persons and more.

They go through a series of competitions - some individual, some team- slowly whittling down to where there is only one person standing.

Fun to see the varied fitness backgrounds compete.

Haven’t seen the show but there is a YouTube series along the lines of Crossfitter vs Bodybuilder vs Powerlifter vs Oly lifter that are somewhat interesting. Unsurprisingly, everyone excels in their lane of expertise, BUT, the gym bros do surprisingly well in the athletic tests: long jump etc and “muscling” up power cleans.

I couldn't believe the challenge where they held that rock on their shoulders. Now that was mentally tough!

I watched the first few elisodes and thought it drug on a bit but maybe i need to give it more time as they cut down on contestants. It reminded me of a serious version of MXC though

No, I haven't seen it yet but I’m planning to watch it soon enough. I think it will be a fun watch. Plus I was looking for something to kill time.

I think he's quite the celebrity in Korea :)

it's definitely cheesy, but interesting cheesy :D
It was good entertainment for awhile but it did sort of drag on. Sort of interesting to see what caused certain folks to lose. I initially thought the UDT soldiers would do well but they were all gone pretty quickly. Seeing a snowboarder, cyclist and ice climber get as far as they did was cool.

Yeah- I thought they would do better too. Obviously a lot depends on who you drew and what the event is.

I'd love to have engineer comment on the dragging of the boat- how best to get it off the first platform, how far a part should the logs be and what is the very best way to get the boat up the ramp :).

Makes me think about an article I read about how a good % of olympians share some genetic markers and how it helps with recovery etc. I guess the general idea that folks at the top of their discipline are genetically gifted in a way that gives them an edge across fields.

It would make sense that guys who can and do perform at the top have good recovery. I read a book awhile back talking about stuff like that and while it’s not relevant to the physical 100 show, it was interesting. It talked a lot about how rare it is for people who have the physical dimensions and abilities to actually find the sport they are built for much less an interest in it.

For example, Michael Phelps was perfectly built to be a swimmer, big feet, flexible ankles, a long reach/wingspan, a long torso etc, but the fact that he found and enjoyed swimming is rare. Same with guys like lance armstrong or etc. there’s likely lots of folks out there who could do this stuff if they had ever been exposed to it or found a desire to do it.
