Really on a budget here and wanted to see if anyone used a amazon basics tripod that weighs like 1.4 lbs for glassing.. my guess id it is better than nothing!

I bought a $20 Amazon lightweight tripod about a year ago, thinking that it had to be better than nothing.

I wish I had that $20 back. It was terrible. It had cheap plastic knobs that wouldn't lock down. And it weighed more than advertised. I just threw it away. It was that bad.

I bought a Slik Mini (I think?) off of the Slik USA website about a month ago. They have discontinued/refurbished models for $50-60 that will serve you well.

Ive been running a slik u5000 for 2 years. They are about $25. All the joints are plastic but they all work right and if youre just the slightest bit careful they wont break. I probably use it 1x a week plus a couple big hunts per year. Yeah its not as smooth as I would like but it freed up an extra $100-$200 which I invested in my glass. Eventually it will break but Ive gotten my moneys worth out of it.

But if your on a budget like most go for it it will get you by a year or two until some funds can be saved up. I will probably run mine again this year on a week long backpack hunt in Colorado.

I might be able to afford the slik mini I mean 50-60 bucks is t bad especially if it is that much better than the amazon basics one..
