Got an email promoting their tripod holster for holding your binos or spotter while using the other. Looks interesting, but hoping someone here has tried it and has any input of the stability of the tripod with a set of 15's or spotter hanging off a leg.

Assume it only works with their shoe? Something in ARCA like that would be neat

Check that, it does work with ARCA. Was about to buy it, measured my Aziak Backcountry Lite leg at 22mm, but also noticed that it would affect how compact my tripod folded because of the center column of the Aziak. Hit the google machine and found this:

I’ve been eyeing that outdoorsman tripod holster sense it came out but they haven’t come out in the right size for my tripod yet. I just ordered that ronin one. I’ll report back how well it stays put and holds binos/spotter once it’s on.

They are awesome, I really like it, especially this time of year with snow on the ground, I can slide my spotter or binos in and everything stays dry.

The same can be said about keeping optics out of the dust in the summer. Or if you’re standing and glassing, no more bending over when you want to go from binos to spotter.

I also really appreciate it glassing on a steep slope, my spotter isn’t going to roll away.

Weighs virtually nothing.

As mentioned above it accepts either Arca or outdoorsman plates.

I didn’t love mine, took it off after giving it a shot for a few months. Being plastic, 4 of the 6 slots for the bolts and nuts broke. The slot for Arca doesn’t fit all arca. It worked for one plate, but none of the others without really working it into place (super tight). And last, it is one more thing on the tripod to catch on things in your pack getting it in and out. If it fit all arca, and was more durable, I’d deal with it catching on things in the pack. For me it was a bigger headache than helpful.

I was wanting to do that but for my tricer. I was actually wondering if if would hit like that. Makes sense but I didn’t want to spend the money and have it not work well

That’s the kind of “review” I was hoping for.

I’ve got one. Love it so far. Makes the tripod more stable with the additional weight of the spotter or binos. Once i got it rotated correctly it doesn’t affect the way the tripod closes. I run my tripod in the stretch water bottle pocket of my Kifaru pack, so not really a snagging problem. Depending on where/how you stow it, I could see that being an annoyance. At first, the ARCA and the outdoorsman proprietary slots were a bit snug or “sticky” getting them in and out. It’s gotten more slick with time. I considered using some dry lube on it at first, but didn’t end up needing to.

Do you know the brands of the arca plate that worked and the ones that didn’t?
I know not all arca plates are arca spec- to rrs spec to be exact. I’m curious if that’s what caused the issue with them not fitting well.

Also I can see how it could cause a problem skidding in/out of pack. I store my tripod on the outside, but even then it can still get snagged on the straps, or something else if it’s not pushed against the bag.

I’ll see how the ronin ones works once it shows up.
