Anyone tested a Burris XTR ll or lll?

I have had a few. I would say they are not of great quality and would not buy one again. They fail to hold zero and their tracking left some to be desired. If in a budget I would buy other scopes or save for a higher end scope.

Wow that’s interesting to hear. Their durability and tracking seem to be what everyone raves about. The glass quality has been the biggest complaint from most user reviews I’ve read. Did you have the same problems with every one you had? Which XTR did you have?

The XTR II’s are ok. The ones I have seen and used would lose zero from drops, but otherwise were decent. Their main issue here as for why more aren’t interested, is that their reticles sucks for general hunting.

I know I’m digging up an old topic, but I recently picked up a XTR II 5-25 from Eurooptic because they are marked down significantly since being discontinued. How significant of a sample size have you seen? Lots of scopes with the same issues?

I’ve done the Leupold VX3-HD’s and liked the glass a lot, but could not maintain a zero. I then did a SWFA fixed 10, loved the scopes’ reliability but the turrets on mine were terrible, mushy and would never line up correctly. I then did an Arken EP-5 5-25, honestly I’ve had a great experience with this scope, tracks reliably and returns to zero. It has been knocked over multiple times (including onto concrete), ridden in my truck hundreds of miles of forest service roads and always maintained zero….but it’s still an Arken and I have mixed feelings about that company.

I was really hoping the XTR was a huge score for me at $499. FFP, Mil/mil, widely regarded for build quality and durability, most notable complaint seems to be glass quality and that’s the least of my concern. The scope arrives Thursday, the rifle already has a Nightforce base installed torqued to spec and installed with Locktite. The rings I have are Nightforce ultralights, they will be torqued and installed with vibratite. From your experience, do you think I should be concerned with the reliability/dependability of this set-up?

Hey I'm on this exact path and the price is still the same so was really considering getting the XTR II but have you gotten to test yours a bit?
