Anyone seen a mountain lion look like this

Here is a pretty good sized tom my buddy killed. Have you guys ever seen a lion without a tail before?

never seen one without a tail. was there any evidence of injury? I am sure they get them hung up from time to time. also very possible it just never had one, I guess. Great pictures. Really good looking cat.
 
I would suspect it is do to injury. My current farm cat showed up with an injured tail. Within a couple weeks nature took its course and he lost 2/3 of his tail.
 
great kill! Always nice to have a picture of your trophy before pulling the trigger! makes it more interesting without a tail!
 
I have heard rumors of houndsmen cutting/shooting the tails off cats in an effort to keep more of them alive to chase, and not get shot by hunters. Not saying this is the cause, but houndsmen ( i know many) will do about anything to keep their beloved deer killing friends alive....
 
I missed this earlier. I'd bet that is frost bite. Looks like one or both of the ears got froze a little and probably the same thing for the tail. Utah cat?
