Anyone purposely skip opening day?

MO gun opening day is busy. To judge certain properties, I have drove and observed the pressure on them rather than hunt.
Time well spent to never show up on the circus properties.

I'm definitely going this year. Haven't made it out on an opening day in years for various reasons. Then again I'm hunting private land in SC, so I'm not having to worry about the public land crowds like a lot of you guys.

Wouldn’t dream of it. I’m hunting public land on opening day. Drinking coffee in the wall tent with my buddies and the climbing that mountain before daylight and watching the sun break on opening day isn’t something I’d miss if I could help it.

Skip opening weekend of pheasant in SD every year. Let everyone get it out of their system the first weekend. I go grouse hunting on the prairie instead and don't see another person.

Nope. There will never be as many animals on the landscape as there is opening day. I only get so many days off a year. It’s silly to waste days in a 2 week season.

ID Archery Elk, Skipping opening week, working remotely week 2 and hunting/scouting in the evenings, hunting f/t week 3 & 4.
NM ML Elk working remotely/scouting the week prior and NOT skipping opening day.

Likely skipping opening day (at least that's what I am saying now) for all of my tags here in MT...Archery Elk/Deer, Antelope, General Elk/Deer. Would be a different story in a scenario with more limited season dates or if there were OIL implications.

Way off topic, but when I've scrolled through the forums, I keep double taking because I keep thinking the thread topic reads "Anyone Purposefully Skip Leg Day?"

And I thought, well, more so than arm day I guess. lol

Antelope hunting yes, archery elk hunting yeah because it is so long and if traveling long distance sometimes want to hunt the middle or end of season. Rifle elk no I haven't missed opening day.

This year 3rd season deer we are thinking about skipping the first couple days because the last few days should be the best and keeping the momentum up for 9 days can be a rough one for sure.
