Vandall, I hear you! It's hard to say what he'll do with it. He has a Chevy Duramax 3/4 ton at present, actually it's his 2nd one, he loves it! I think he just likes the looks of them & he's a diesel guy at heart. He wants to be able to tow his jet-boat with it if so desired so was curious of its power to do so with that smaller 3.0 -- He has too much money! (grin)

You'd hope not. Most oil pumps are gear driven AFAIK, and it makes sense because without oil your engine is toast. How many guys are gonna be cruising down the road with a slipping belt, or worse, break a belt... by the time they get pulled over, which could take a minute on the interstate, they can suffer a massive amount of engine damage. I don't think duramax uses liners either, so that's a new block.The belt driven oil pump is a playing w fire trick that was probably designed to get into production and to dealerships for sales.. No way will that be a lingering design.
Who the hell makes an oil pump belt driven anyhow.
