Been creeping on the forum for a while and finally registered. I 'm fairly new to colorado and even newer to elk hunting. I'm located in Colorado Springs and I just bought an OTC Archery tag this year. I went rifle hunting for elk last year but had no luck. I'm 26 years old and I'm fully prepared to pack in as far as you want to go and I'm more than capable of carrying my share of meat out. I have all my own gear; shelter, calls, spotting scope, etc. I'd love to tag along with someone who knows what they're doing, but I'd be just as happy if there was someone that was new like me and also needed a hunting partner. I'm looking at going out for the four days on Labor Day weekend and possibly every other weekend in September. Please let me know if any of y'all are interested!

Thanks,
Travis

Send me a PM with your number. If you feel like driving down to the SW area I wouldn't mind having you tag along.

Never commented on anything like this before, but this one just caught me as incredibly generous. Guys that are so willing to help others out is why rokslide is such a great community!

I just moved here and nobody here I know archery hunts. My wife would sure feel better if someone was out with me.

I've been out scouting areas since the end of May. I'm pretty fortunate to have a job that allows me to be out in the woods four days a week, in areas I'd like to hunt.

It does seem like justinspicher has covered a lot of ground in the short time he has been here. I'm all booked up on weekends, but you get out during the week at all justinspicher I'd be up for a evening hunt. My work schedule makes mornings hard to get, but afternoons I can often break away early and I often have to solo those.

Pow,

That works for me. So far I've got just over 200 miles covered down here, since the beginning of June. Those are all on trails, and for work, but I've managed to take notes and jot down some promising locations. Working 4/10s doesn't hurt either.

I've spent this last week scouting, found some good spots and a few not so good spots.

I've been talking with our outfitter administrator to check where all the outfitters will have camps so I can avoid them, but know where to go should I need some help or have an issue.

The only problem with this is.......when you'll be out hunting I'll be at home, and when you're at home I'll be out hunting. I try to stay away from weekends for the most part, and most definitely Labor Day weekend if I can help it.

I only have archery tags so I'll be out as much as I can in September. There might be crowds, but that means I'll have to go behind the house to hunt instead of in the big mountains.

My brother and will be heading to SW CO and will be new to the area. We have a couple units in mind but not entirely sure which one we're gonna go with yet or what our game plan will be regarding staying in one unit or bouncing around based on sign. most likely were looking at doing a couple days in one area and moving on based on sign. seems to be the consensus around here. We'll be hunting Sept 2-11.
