Anyone mess with the 25cal 134 ELDM yet?

Curious if anyone has had a chance go mess with the 25 cal 134 ELDM? Specifically in 25-06. Any powder recommendations? Also, any idea what twist rate is going to be required for this bullet?

I'm building a 25 SAUM to shoot those 134 ELD-M's, in fact I just bought a new BAT Igniter receiver for it today, and when I talked to Frank w/Bartlein we thought a 8.5tw would probably be enough to stabilize them but just in case Hornady were to do something like a 135-140 A-Tip or if something a little heavier/longer came along from Berger or anyone else I went with a 8tw for a little extra security.

The problem with bullets like these though is for the cartridges with enough case capacity to sling these things up around 3200fps you kinda have to be careful not to go with to fast of a twist or the bullet RPM becomes more than the bullet can handle. Most bullet manufacturers start getting nervous when bullet RPM is nearing 300,000 and over 300K they start having anxiety attacks.

I have to be honest, I've never really been a 25 cal fan of any kind but when you run the numbers on these high BC bullets like the Berger 133 & 135 or those 134 ELD-M's at 31-3200+ they get your attention real quick.

I have a box to try in my 25prc but the 135 bergers are shooting really good and I have 300 or so left. Mine is a 7 twist bartlien, maybe to fast for the Hornady 134s

How fast are you slinging the Berger 135's with what powder and how long is the 7tw Bartlein you're using?

My smith has a 25 PRC reamer and I considered a 25 PRC but I've got a bunch of new ADG 6.5 SAUM brass and wanted something slightly faster. Probably stupid on my part considering I have a set of Redding 6.5 PRC bushing dies that would have worked and my smith wouldn't have needed to order a different reamer and when it's all said and done there probably won't be 100fps at most difference between the two.

58.2grs of H1000 is giving me 3150fps, 24" barrel. Have a buck antelope tag in October, can't wait to try it out. Hopefully kill a cow elk first with it, that season starts here next week!

no accuracy testing yet but my 25 saum is showing 3300 fps 24" tube, and minor pressure at 3320. seems to be a node right at 3280 fps w h1000, may try rl 26 this next week or two. wanting that 3280 node!!! putting final components together for my next years build.

I just loaded up a ladder test for my 22” 1-7 twist 25 creedmoor with the 134 and h4350. We will see what happens!

Yes sir I did, a buck antelope at 230 yards I think it was. Did the trick, pretty good size exit

Adter thise results I was wanting to try them on an elk too but this year has been strange, they are just now coming down. My wife still has a tag so it may still happen

We have smacked a ton of game with 180’s and 162 eldm at long to short distances. I can’t help but think the 134 is no different.

Hornady .257cal 134 eld terminal performance report

Finally got to test the .257 134 eld on game. These are moving at 2910fps from my 25 creedmoor. Shot was 400 yards on a big cow. Impact velocity 2540fps. Not pushing the limits by any means but nice to see good results so far! She traveled about 30 yards after the shot, heard a crash 2-3...
