Who is the outfitter are you hunting with?I'm hunting Afognak and Raspberry Island the first week of December. Can't wait!
Same outfitter. They've been super helpful, probably answered 50 questions over text and email the last few months. Will see how the hunt goes, will let you know so you know what to expectWho is the outfitter are you hunting with?

How was your trip? Looking to go in 2027.Me and 7 other guys will be on Raspberry Island hunting blacktail the 2nd week of December. This will be my first trip there and I am really looking to it.

It was a fun trip. There was 8 of us that went. We got delayed getting of Kodiak 1 day because of a snow storm they got when we flew in on Saturday the 6th. The wind picked up. Finally got to Raspberry Island on the afternoon on Dec 9. Zeroed our rifles. A few of us hunted on Afognak Island the first couple of days. That was a workout for us flat landers. Walking through waist high woody brush going up a steep mountain with about 8” of snow. How was your trip? Looking to go in 2027.
Thank you, I appreciate the info!It was a fun trip. There was 8 of us that went. We got delayed getting of Kodiak 1 day because of a snow storm they got when we flew in on Saturday the 6th. After the first couple of days, there was talk about not getting off the island when we were supposed to. We were supposed to leave on Dec 15. A few guys went home early but me and 4 others stayed when one that stayed shot a nice 8 point the night before the 3 left.
We were told by other hunters we ran into that were hunting the area to go above 1200’. That is where to find deer. We hunted down low and really didn’t see much. Only a few does. One guy did get a little fork horn down low.
We couldn’t get out on our fly out date because of high winds. So we kept hunting. Three guys went duck hunting and got 14 ducks one afternoon.
On the last day we hunted, we all went above the lodge on Raspberry Island on the mountain. The first time I made it up there. It took us 2 hours to hike 1682’ up. There was a lot more sign up there than down below. One of us could have had a nice tall tined buck, but he was standing on a ledge that if he was shot, he might have fallen down a straight cliff and it would take us until the next day to get around the mountain to get to him. Plus, we thought we would be getting out the next morning.
We did get out the next morning, Dec. 18. Flew out of Kodiak on the 19th.
Would do it again? Oh yeah. I don’t think I would go back to the same location. I think I would hunt on Kodiak Island instead. We all had a great time. Out of 5 of us that stayed, 2 deer, 14 ducks, and 1 fox was taken.
