Anyone hunt the Mescalero?

When I went only the trophy tag holder had the option to book management hunts, couldn't out right book a management bull hunt.

Hunted it many times for trophy and cows back when we were taking nothing smaller than 375s.. as the yrs went by the Tribe Leaders got gready and increased hunts and tags to the point of 330s were being taken. We killed all
The big boys. Glad to see they wised up to get the size back to the worthiness of the price. Multiple 400s were taken back then. Now, way too many east coast hunters and Midwest have the elk bug and have over crowded the chances … it will never the the same.

Ruidoso and Cloudcroft are the primary location for the bigger population centers in west Texas to go to the mountains. Because unlike the Gila there are boutiques, diners, BBQ places, shopping and other tourist junk. So thousands of idiots in jeep jamborees and UTV groups come to the Lincoln National Forest for recreation.

@Mojave Silver city and surround Gila gets its fair share of Texans..... to be fair to the rest of the state of Texas, it was specifically El Paso people. Would come and trash the forest, lakes and camp grounds. They were hated
