I've got a few miles on my new Crispi Idaho III uninsulated and they are killing me and I hope they break in over time or I find a fix here. Its basically the area around the achilles heel where the rubber rand ends. When the boots are on and I stand, I feel a firm wall of pressure evenly on the back of my heel.

I did several rounds of returns with Crispi and my normal size 12 fit but my toes were slightly touching the front of boot, so I exchanged to a 12.5. I initially started with the Guide model but also felt the same pressure as I feel on the Idaho III, so stayed with this model for a little bit of weight savings and a faster dry time if wet.
  • Week 1 - I tried looser laces around foot and tight from ankle up with medium weight darn tough socks and got destroyed
  • Week 2 - I tried the same but added Leukotape P, didn't work with loose or super tight laces all the way.
  • Week 3 - I tried heavy weight darn tough with leukotape P and it was a little better but after the first mile it was time to take the boots off
  • I also tried two insoles (Superfeet Hike and Scholes Work Gel) with no improvement
  • It doesn't feel like my heels are slipping, but more like its laced firmly into a hard brick wall.
Has anyone here experienced this constant heel pressure on Crispi boots and found a fix? Will this improve over time as the boots or feet break in?

i would try another innersole if you have them and see if that helps.

I normally rock the altitude and the colorado for my hunting but the laponia just don't work for my feet and i find it rubs on the back of my heel funny. I tape it for longer walks and use them for my short training walks.

i had the lowa rangers do the same thing when i went from the ii to the iii just didnt work.

Learn to lace them differently. Here's a video that changed how I lace all my boots and it made a huge difference, sorry couldn't find a video specifically on the Idaho. I have the Lapponias and I can't say I will ever change I run them hard all elk season and even into late season Dec/Jan while chasing chukar up and down hills. All I change between the seasons are my socks.

I also agree that an insole can help. Thin merino liners have also helped when I had other boots in the past that rubbed my heel.

I have the same issue with crispi lapponia IIIs. They felt comfortable when I bought them, but after a mile of walking flat ground they eat up my heels. I haven't found a remedy other than leukotape but I still get hotspots.

You might try some cowboy boot shoe trees. You can insert the front portion into the front of the boot….then slide the heel part of the tree into the area that’s hurting. I use green super feet and like them but your problem seems different. I never used Cripsi as I thought their flex was too stiff for me so I can’t shed any light on your model. I do know a lot of those lace options are designed to help hold your heel in place. Might try a pair os silk or poly prop liners. Good luck must be frustrating
