Anyone have a bead on H1000 or retumbo

I've read from groups like Powder Valley that it's going to get worse before it gets better. I haven't seen Retumbo consistently for 5 years so I completely quit using it. Luckily I've acquired enough powder to weather the storm but that doesn't help the average guy that needs a couple lbs for his hunting rig. The rate it gets bought up scares me. I have a friend that has enough H1000 for 20 more rounds and then he's done. I think RL26 keeps popping up so consider buying in on that if compatible with your rifle.

Primers are hard to get and are back to 2012 gouging prices gunbroker...one active auction is up to $155/1k of small pistol primers. I suspect large rifle primers will soon follow.

N570 has been available fairly often if you watch the distributors like a hawk. I've found that it's a great replacement for Retumbo and almost always gives better performance.

@Unknown Munitions says it basically doesn't exist right now. Seems like sometime since he has been able to find it. I communicated with him earlier this week.

Seems like this shortage is worse than the era of 2013. I’m glad i stocked up while i had the chance last fall

I've been looking for Retumbo for almost 2 years. I'm down to ny last lb, and I'm not excited to find a new load for my .338 LM...

Most of my local shops have retumbo and H4350 the last few times I’ve went, one shop has a few H1000 lbs but I can’t find RL26 for the life of me anywhere

Thanks for the insight guys. I know it’s like finding a needle in a hay stack, I will look into the other powders you mentioned.

The websites you hear all the time end up having thousands of guys waitlisted for copious amounts, so even if they get in a thousand pounds its hit or miss if you will get any. I found some retumbo a month ago, while I was in afghanistan, at reloading unlimited and ended up talking to the guy and he answered a bunch of other questions I had about reloading stuff, so I ended up ordering alot of other things from him as well.. He was pushing 8133 pretty hard and said it was IMR's "Retumbo" (you can find 8133 from lots of places I think). Im just getting into loading my own ammo so the month long powder search was difficult to find the powders I wanted, but I learned that alot of places have stock of powders like H1000, Retumbo, RL26, ect,, but only sell to locals "in store". However, I was able to talk to a well known place that was only selling RL26 on the phone and they allowed me to purchase as much as I wanted of that stuff due to where I was at the time (hindsight, I should have got more than 10 pounds, then swapped it with some of yall for other stuff). Google was my best friend and it took over a month of searching everyday, for about an hour, to track down all of the stuff I wanted to get into handloading. If you have the spare time, searching the internet will be your best option probably. I found the problem with asking on forums like this, is if someone on a forum knows about it, its probably too late once it trickles down to the guy asking.... Hope Im wrong about that for ya, but search that dang ole internet and if they only sell to locals, give them a call and offer to pay a little extra for their hassle....

I got really into handloading when H4350 was the powder I needed and also the powder that could not be found anywhere. I learned a valuable lesson early in my reloading days: When you find a powder that works for you, buy as much as you can afford. The powder will become available again. It will just take a while. There are several powders that I use in my rifles that I have enough of for the rest of my life. I do not regret spending the extra money knowing that I will always have ammunition.

I just pull up h1000 on several different websites and hit the refresh button a couple times a day until i see I can actually add items to cart. Got 5lbs of h1000 in July from pv.

Can we add RL26 to this list? Been wanting to try it to get some extra speed out of a 23 in barrel but haven't seen the first container yet

That’s the key. Picked up some RL26 and Varget that way last week.

There are websites that show instock reloading components. Its been a while since I've checked them but they update often and I found some hard to find powder and primers by checking the site several times a day. I can not remember what the site is, or I would link it here. I really haven't had any trouble finding the powder I have needed for the last 2 years.
