A bit of a backwards one but any of the Canadian or foreign members on here taken rifles into the states to hunt?

Im a US citizen but live in NZ. Have a rifle I have left in Montana but its a bit of a hassle to always have to travel to Montana first and not being able to bring my main rifle I'm used to isn't ideal. Im heading to Alaska next season and would be nice not to have to detour via Montana as it adds a bunch of money in flights.

Plenty of info on taking firearms out but not many on bringing them in.

Have someone fed -ex it to you in AK. Then you don't have to go to Montana. Quick look on the interweb, looks like customs form and atf form? Seems like a pain.

This page is geared toward canada/us border crossing but the process s/b similar enough to your use case. Your airline will also know the process for bringing weapons to/from the US; also good to know your airlines firearms transport policies bc they may be more restrictive than border patrol/tsa.
